Carnival will be rolling into the city tomorrow bringing the annual spectacular show to the people of Wells.

With more than 40 carts in the procession, this year promises to be as fantastic as ever.

In his programme notes carnival committee chairman Martin Coppell patriotically dedicated this year's event to the Queen, in honour of her diamond jubilee.

Returning to its traditional route this year the procession will start on Strawberry Way before moving on to Tucker Street, past the Little Theatre, up Chamberlain Street before turning on to Sadler Street and down High Street, Broad Street and finish at the end of Priory Road.

Wells carnivalites will be out in force.

After winning the County Cup last year for their Elf Made cart Globe Carnival Club will be giving us a taste of the USA with their Rock Vegas theme.

Mendip Vale CC will be bringing some Friday Night Fever with their disco theme of Dancin' in November.

Ancient mythology is the theme for Gorgons CC.

To celebrate their 40th anniversary they are reprising the theme from their first carnival.

Masquerader Michael Churches, from Godney, has taken inspiration from Rio 2016 and junior masqueraders Izzy and Lotty Wheeler, from Gurney Slade, have chosen Storm Force to the Rescue and Mary Mary Quite Contrary as their themes respectively.
