Just two competitions survived the rain at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club last week, with John Vowles recording by far the best score in the seniors' stableford.
Vowles' return of 42 points in Division 2 was five better than anyone else, which was harsh on runner-up Mike Peacock, whose 37 would have won either of the other divisions. Chris Donald was third with 36.
Calvon Poulton-Sadler was the clear winner of Division 1, although there was a tight finish for second place as four players scored just a point fewer than his 36.
When countback was taken into account, Martin Easton was announced as the runner- up, with Ellis Nearn third and Peter Bendell and Steve Lawrence just missing out.
Division 3 was won by Eddie Parlour with 35 points, which put him two clear of the field. David Dams was the runner- up, beating Dennis Howard on countback.
The ladies' competition was reduced to nine holes as some temporary greens were in use.
The best score of the day came from immediate past captain Cathy Olive with 20 points to win Silver Division. Alison Dodkin was second with 18, closely pursued by Liz Miller with 17.
Current captain Deidre Wheadon also played well to have the best score in Bronze Division with 18 points, followed by Esme Gulliver on 16 and Ann Adams, who beat Wendy Lucas on countback after both scored 15.
