Streams full of rubbish

Re: Rubbish in the streams flowing through Wells.

The slow-flowing stream caressed the empty bottles and cans, and then embarked on filling the empty sandwich packs as they moved like a boat, but now cleansed and flavourless.

Egg containers are defiant and bang against stones, but move on, as if in a race – while passing the uneaten baps, as they sit beneath the shallow water – while its wetness keeps mould at bay.

Depending on the day, the water wanderers vary – a child's toy teddy – back floating, with legs up, as if waiting to be grabbed and owner-returned.

While a large black bird, perched on a branch, perused it as if deciding whether it was edible, or merely a human smiling arcade once again.
