Looking Back: Nativity plays remind us of festive message

Christmas is not just about getting presents, although you might be forgiven for thinking otherwise if you've been watching the telly.

The story of the baby Jesus's birth in a manger is, of course, where it all began and what better way to be reminded of that than going to see a festive school nativity play.

This week Looking Back has pulled out some old photos from schools in our area – hopefully they will bring back a few memories of nervous first steps in the acting world for our readers – they certainly did for this former shepherd!

Though the nativity is not just for primary school kids – as we can see from this picture of a play featuring a real donkey outside the Bishop's Palace proves.

If your child's school is holding a nativity play this year, don't forget to send your photographs of the evening to the Journal.

You can email them to wells@midsomnews.co.uk or post them to Wells Journal, Southover, Wells BA5 1UH.
