Wells Twinning Association

Following the very successful visit from our new twinning friends from Fontanelatto, Italy, in September, the committee is now busy making plans for the end of May when we welcome visitors from Bad Dürkheim.

This will be a very special event for us as we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary of twinning with our German friends and we would like to make it a very memorable occasion.

The English Twinning Charter was signed in Wells by Mayor Stephen Fowler in 1983 and the German charter was signed in Bad Dürkheim by Mayor Eileen Giles in April 1984.

Both were signed by Burgermeister George Kalbfuss. We hope to welcome many friends, old and new, back to Wells to celebrate with us.

Our next social event will be a Gluhweinabend evening on Saturday, December 1, at 7.30pm, in Seager Hall, Wells. This is open to members and friends and anyone interested in joining us can contact the secretary, Pat Reynolds, on 01749 870217.

Sadly, we heard this week of the death of Dr Christiane Lutz, the wife of Burgermeister Wolfgang Lutz, in Bad Dürkheim. She will be remembered as a beautiful young woman who was very kind and gracious to everyone she met and very supportive to twinning.
