Mid-Somerset Ladies 2nd 6 Frys 3rd 0

Second-placed Mid-Somerset hit visiting Frys for six with a dominant display in Wessex Division 3.

The midfield of Ellie Massey, Sarah Dowden, Jess Thompson and Diane Grove created plenty of early chances for the home side but Fry's were not to be discounted and tested the defence of Terri Wipfler, Lorna Wickham, Hilary McNeill and Mary Dowds.

A series of short corners led to Grove hitting the backboards when her powerful strike broke the deadlock. Soon afterwards, Dowden slotted past the advancing keeper to make it 2-0.

Ellie Massey, Leanne Lambert and Rosie Malone were all denied by the visiting keeper as Mids failed to increase their lead before the break.

Player of the match Wipfler led the charge as the second half got under way and guided home Dowden's cross for Mids' third.

The goals soon came thick and fast, with Dowden, Carly Dutton and Jess Thompson all on target as the home side punished mistakes.

Playing such a high line, the hosts were almost caught out when Frys managed to sneak behind the defence but goalkeeper Soria Camille-Stallard kept them at bay.

Rebecca Dowden went close to adding a seventh for the home side at the death but her shot was beaten away by the last defender.
