As we head into the autumn season you should start thinking about adapting your skin, make-up and hair routines to accommodate the harsher weather.
With the temperature dropping and the air getting dryer your skin will become vulnerable to dehydration so it is important to consider the skin care products you're using.
You should not only be choosing products to protect you from the colder weather but also those which will correct any summer damage that your skin may have suffered.
Switching from lotions to creams is a good start. With the cold, dry air and harsh winds your skin will need a thicker moisturiser to provide an oily barrier and keep the skin hydrated.
A non-petroleum based lip balm will provide the same sort of protection for your lips.
Oil based scrubs will both exfoliate and hydrate and will help revitalise summer skin that may have been left feeling flaky and dry.
When it comes to make-up, different variations of the same trends tend to come and go each year but it's always important to give your cheeks the colour they will be lacking in the colder climate.
This season the 'vintage English' look is set to be a popular choice; a rosy flush on the cheeks, minimal attention around the eyes (emphasising the brow) and a bright shade of red for the lips, giving the impression that you've just come in from the cold but looking healthy with it.
Alternatively, long sweeping accents around the eyes offer something more exciting for special occasions and nights out. When co-ordinated properly, bold colours such as blue and orange can be the perfect finishing touch to an outfit.
Finally, overcoming brittle and weak hair during autumn is perhaps the biggest challenge of all when adjusting your seasonal beauty routine but there are products available which work wonders.
Start with trimming split ends to make whichever products you do use more effective, then go out and grab yourself a decent deep conditioner to help nourish your hair after washing. If you've decided to go for a new colour this autumn then it might be wise to invest in a colour-protecting conditioner so the shade stays brighter for longer.
If your hair is prone to frizzing at this time of year then look into getting a silicone-based hair spray.
Of course an early trip to your local salon once the weather turns can save you a lot of hassle in the long run. Not only will they help you decide on the stylish and manageable cut but they can offer you all the expert advice you need for keeping hair strong and healthy during autumn.
