The Wells City Harriers- sponsored Secondary Schools Cross-Country League concluded last Tuesday, with the final fixture taking place at Millfield.
The league, again coordinated by Millfield's John Etherington and Jason Allen, saw large fields of athletes in the Year 7, 8 and 9 races, with medals awarded by Harriers chairman Paul Chadwick.
The Year 7 champions were Ansford's Chris Ellis and Juliet Grogan–Poulson of Millfield Prep.
Dylan Dukes of Wells Blue and Hugh Sexey's Hamish Clarke were second and third for the boys, positions matched by Victoria McCabe of All Hallows and Hugh Sexey's Lauren Ashurst in the girls' event. Millfield prevailed in both team events.
Millfield's Oscar Rogers topped the Year 8 boys' standings and school-mate Charlie Samouelle was third, with the duo separated by Wells Blue's Alex Williams.
Alice Davies of Hugh Sexey was the girls' champion, beating Millfield's Ella Sykes and Crispin's Amy Barlow.
Hugh Sexey and Millfield tied for gold in the girls' team event but Millfield took overall glory among the boys.
Lucy Baldwin was victorious for Millfield in the Year 9 girls' league, with Wells Cathedral's India Cooper runner-up and Megan Chiffers of Crispin in third.
Michael Nicholson topped the boys' standings, beating Johnny Ellis of Ansford and Wells Cathedral's Freddie Gummer.
Wells Cathedral won the boys' team prize, with Crispin taking the girls' honours.
