Youngsters from Glastonbury Cricket Club celebrated another successful season when they attended the Taunton & District Youth League presentation evening at the County Ground.

Representatives from the club's youth section collected their silverware for the season at the event.

Both under-11 teams enjoyed success, with one topping their division and the other winning the cup, while the under-15s were runners-up in their division. The club also fielded an under-13s team.

The club's own youth awards evening was held at Tor Sports and Leisure, with players receiving their prizes from director of youth cricket Dave Beal.

Winners: U11 A: Best bowler – Tom Maddock, best batsman – Henry Smeed, best overall – Will Smeed.

U11 B: Best bowler – Harry Dimdore-Miles, best batsman – Sethan Locke, best overall – Scott Reid.

U13: Best bowler – Noah Gooch, best batsman – David Greenhill, best overall – Tom Hall.

U15: Best bowler – Fraser Owen, best batsman – Alex Eckland, best overall – Jacob Gooch.

Glastonbury's youth section is the biggest club provider of Somerset CCC age-group players, with coaches including former Somerset professional Beal, who currently coaches with the county.

Twenty of the club's players were selected for the county winter training squads, hoping to secure a place in the match squads next summer.

Glastonbury's registration event for the 2014 season will take place on March 2 at Tor Sports and Leisure. For more information, contact membership secretary Bob Taylor on 01458 223029.
