In March, award-winning Street Theatre will be bringing Tim Firth's popular Calendar Girls to the stage.

The process of casting the show, which will be held at Strode Theatre, in Street, is just beginning.

Many people will know the storyline – when Annie's husband, John, dies of leukaemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room.

They persuade four fellow Women's Institute members to pose nude for an "alternative" WI calendar.

There are roles for 10 women and four men, all of varying ages.

Anyone who would like the chance to audition for a part can go along to a special workshop being held at the United Reformed Church Hall (opposite Living Homes) in Street tonight at 7.30pm.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, November 22, and Monday, November 26, at the same place and time. Anyone wishing to go along can email director Lois Harbinson at loisharbinson@yahoo.com or producer Peter Wintle at pwintle@btinternet.com for more details.

Calendar Girls will be at Strode Theatre from March 6 to 9 next year.

Public booking opens today people can get tickets at www.strodetheatre.co.uk or by phoning 01458 442846.
