Somerset County Council is urging more people to think about adoption in National Adoption Week this week.
Councillor Frances Nicholson, cabinet member with responsiblity for adoption, said: "With the number of children coming into care on the rise, we need more people to adopt and give children, who have been through so much in their young lives, a loving and secure forever family.
"Finding parents for children over five, sibling groups and disabled children is sometimes difficult so they may stay in care for longer than we would ideally wish. So we particularly need parents for these children."
